Website
This website has more or less just a place for me to play around with various web technologies: HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, etc. To the best of my recollection, this is the 7th major iteration.
History
Prequel: Some basic HTML with some Perl thrown in, hosted on my PC from home, and used the dhs.org dynamic dns service (mimicvii.dhs.org).
August 2000: Registered the mimicvii.com domain, signed up with a real web host, and started playing around with PHP.
Versions 1-3: A handful of phpNuke variants (phpNuke, myPHPNuke, and postnuke) with various hand written modules and customizations.
Volume 4: At this point I began going with a comic book volume versioning system. The frontend was simple HTML and utilized b2 (predecessor to WordPress) in an iframe for dynamic content.
Volume 5: Entirely hand coded, php frontend/backend. Supported drop-in modules and CSS themes. Utilized a news module with phpBB as it’s backend. Minus the phpBB portions, everything else was XHTML Strict compliant.
Volume 6: Laziness sets in and I go with a WordPress solution. Actually went to the effort of creating a custom theme which mimicked the look of Vol 5. This one sat on the web unused for nearly 2 years.
Volume 7: Laziness continues to prevail with an upgrade to WordPress 2.5 and minor tweaks to someone elses theme. An effort is being made however to keep this version current with bloggy, mind-spew-like content…
